MCTE is pleased to announce that Masaki Takahashi, Poet Laureate of Lansing, will be this year’s workshop clinician at the High School Writing Workshop.

Masaki Takahashi holds the esteemed title of Lansing Poet Laureate and is widely recognized as the visionary behind the non-profit organization, The Poetry Room, as well as the esteemed host of The Poetry Room Open Mic. With a deep-rooted appreciation for hip hop and a discerning palate as a culinary enthusiast, Masaki derives immense satisfaction from sharing his love for poetry, particularly with students.

His influence transcends the realm of poetry, earning him a place among the “6 People to Watch: Leaders Making a Difference in Lansing’s Business Scene and Community,” as lauded by The Lansing State Journal in 2019. Masaki’s impact is felt far beyond his own verse; he has orchestrated and presided over events featuring esteemed poets such as Neil Hilborn, Ebony Stewart, Rudy Francisco, Natasha T. Miller, Beau Sia, Brenna Twohy, Olivia Gatwood, Megan Falley, Breeze The Poet, Phil Kaye, and a myriad of other distinguished artists. Moreover, his poetic works have been featured in numerous esteemed journals, and he has graced stages across the nation, participating in slams and captivating audiences as a featured performer.
