Diversity, Inclusion, Justice, and Equity
Mission and Goals
The dije (pronounced dee hay) subcommittee of the Michigan Council of Teachers of English seeks to serve all Michigan English teachers and their students in ways that privilege diversity, inclusion, justice, and equity by recognizing a range of diversity in Michigan English teachers and their students; by recruiting, supporting, and retaining historically underrepresented Michigan English teachers; and by supporting the dije work that teachers do or want to do in their classrooms.
If you are a pre- or inservice English teacher and/or teacher educator who wants to do or who is doing dije work, we are here to support you.
If you are a historically underrepresented pre- or inservice English teacher and/or teacher educator, we are here to support you.
Professional Development and Scholarships
The dije committee seeks to support teachers each year with scholarships to MCTE’s Fall Conference and with grants for professional development that Michigan English teachers design that privileges work in dije.
